- We're seeking a versatile technical communicator to produce accessible, accurate documentation for our software development lifecycle in Omaha. Our ideal collaborator can transform complex source code, design specifications, and testing protocols into clear, concise language understandable by both technical and non-technical audiences. In this on-site freelance role, you will partner closely with software engineers, QA testers, product managers, and support specialists to produce tutorials, FAQs, installation guides, API documentation, and release notes. We're looking for a true communicator who prioritizes user experience through their expertise and attention to detail. **Your Tasks & Contribution** * Participate in sprint planning and daily scrum meetings to anticipate documentation needs related to upcoming features and releases. * Review technical documentation provided by engineers and provide feedback on clarity, accuracy, and completeness. * Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all software products, ensuring documentation is accessible, up-to-date, and aligns with company brand standards. * Work with support teams to improve knowledge base articles and training material that helps users troubleshoot issues quickly. * Employ a variety of media to document solutions and support process documentation efforts. * Continually expand your familiarity with the organization’s technology platform. **Knowledge & Talents** * Demonstrated history of producing high-quality technical documentation, including API documentation, user guides, and troubleshooting guides. * Proficiency in technical writing and communication principles. Clear concise style required. * Familiarity with Markdown, HTML, and other markup languages to format and publish documentation. Knowledge of MadCap Flare is a plus. * Experience documenting code libraries, SDKs, and REST APIs for external and internal developers. * Comfort working in an Agile/Scrum software development environment, integrating documentation into the development process. * Capability to independently investigate software functions, architecture, and user interfaces to understand and document functionality. **What You'll Gain** As a technical communicator here, you will have autonomy to shape and improve the documentation development standards of our entire company.
